School Counselors have always believed that social and emotional learning (SEL) has been and will continue to be critical to engaging students, supporting adults, building relationships, and creating a foundation for academic learning. Over the past couple of months Vermont schools returned to learning in-person, hybrid and remote learning models. This unprecedented shift to a new type of learning experience could have lasting and profound impact on students' academic, social and emotional outcomes. We are well aware that Vermont school counselors' access to resources and support for their school communities varies across the state. Also due to the wide range of responsibilities it can be challenging for school counselors to find the time to identify and vet new resources. To support Vermont school counselors and the need for increased SEL resources, the VTSCA SEL Task Force reviewed many curriculums, resources and programs and we recommend those listed below. We hope this resource is helpful to support SEL in Vermont schools.
